The inaugural Hilltopper Football Camp will be held June 22-26 on the campus of West Liberty University. Assistant head coach and offensive coordinator Gary Krol is director of the camp, which is open to all boys who completed Grades 3-11 during the 2008-09 school year. The West Liberty coaching staff and several members of the Hilltopper football team will serve as counselors and instructors for the camp.
“We are very excited to introduce West Liberty University football to a new generation of young football players while showcasing our first-class facilities,”
Krol said. “This is a great opportunity for our staff and players to work closely with the youngsters here in our local community, teaching them about the great game of football and what it takes to be a successful student-athlete.”
The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily and will be split into morning and afternoon sessions. Morning sessions will focus on developing fundamentals and individual skill improvement. Afternoon sessions will be geared toward enhancing those lessons through group and team settings.
Lectures and demonstrations will be provided by coaches, players or special guest speakers. All camp sessions will be held on the Hilltoppers’ state-of-the-art MondoTurf playing surface at Russek Field and a professional medical trainer will be on duty at all times. A daily all-you-can-eat lunch at the Marketplace Food Court and a camp T-shirt is included in the package for all campers.
Cost of the camp is $110 per camper, which covers the entire week. A $50 deposit is required with the application with the balance due at registration. Check-in will be from 8-9 a.m. on Monday, June 22. Camp will be dismissed at approximately 2 p.m. on Friday, June 26.
