As the East Carolina football team continues its improvement on the field, the Pirates also are setting records at the ticket office.
Season tickets sales for the upcoming season are ahead of last year's pace, according to ECU officials, who expect another complete sellout of all of its season ticket allotment.
With approximately 19,500 season tickets already ordered, ECU now has less than 2,500 season tickets available with less than three months remaining before the Pirates' opener against Virginia Tech at Charlotte's Bank of America Stadium on Aug. 30.
"At the pace we are going, which is 10 percent above where we were last year, we will not have any individual game tickets available for the Virginia Tech game in Charlotte, and the West Virginia and Houston games at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium,"
said Scott Wetherbee, ECU's assistant director of athletics for ticketing & marketing. "We have already started to assign seats for the Virginia Tech game and will be finishing up seating requests and new football season ticket orders in the next couple of weeks."
Due to the high demand for season tickets, individual home game tickets will not be made available until August. Any remaining tickets will be sold to Pirate Club members first and will be assigned using the Pirate Club's Priority Point System.
Along with the game against the Hokies, the season ticket package includes home games against West Virginia (Sept. 6), Houston (Sept. 27), Memphis (Oct. 18), Marshall (Nov. 8) and UTEP (Nov. 28).
