Branden Ore Joins West Liberty Football Program
Former Virginia Tech running back Branden Ore has been accepted to school at West Liberty and has joined the Hilltopper program for the 2008 season. The senior-to-be joins returning 1,000 yard rusher Eddie Hills in the Hilltopper lineup and it's likely both will be on the field at the same time a majority of the snaps. Ore, the cousin of Hilltopper All-American defensive back Darren Banks, had his best year statistically in Blacksburg his sophomore season. He rushed for more than 1,000 yards, scoring 17 touchdowns en route to All-ACC first team honors.
Ore followed that season up with a 900 plus yard performance his junior campaign, capping his season with a touchdown in the Orange Bowl. However, in March, Ore was dismissed from the Hokie program. Head coach Frank Beamer saying only in a statement that he thought it was best that Ore pursue other opportunities. West Liberty, picked to finish second in the WVIAC race in 2008, opens the season August 30th at home, hosting Edinboro.
